If you have been told that you need eye surgery to improve some aspect of your vision, you have probably been looking for an eye doctor who is expert in eye surgery and eye health care. We are happy to tell you that your search for an expert doctor can end now. Our eye doctor in Kerrville, Dr. Russell S. Cravey, at Kerrville Eye Center, P.A., has been providing exceptional eye care to patients in the Texas Hill County and surrounding areas for over 16 years – including performing many different types of leading-edge eye surgeries.

At our practice, our eye doctor in Kerrville offers general ophthalmology eye care as well as surgical treatments including laser eye surgery. Some of the surgeries we provide are laser and refractive cataract eye surgery, glaucoma surgery, and a new surgery called NearVision CK. This new procedure will help improve your vision and allow you to see clearly like you could before you needed bifocal reading glasses. This is a new advancement in vision correction and actually uses radio waves instead of a laser to correct your vision problem. Dr. Cravey uses a small pen-like instrument with a tiny tip, to place spots around the perimeter of your eye. The area tightens where the spots are placed and the cornea is tightened. This steepens the cornea which in turn will improve your near vision, and reduce or eliminate your need for bifocals.

Another surgery that is performed by Dr. Cravey is refractive cataract surgery. This surgery allows a person with cataracts to be able to have their vision completely restored in the affected eye or eyes. This surgery is performed on an outpatient basis and generally takes less than an hour. During the surgery, the original natural lens is removed from the eye and replaced with a new man made intraocular lens (IOL). This new lens becomes a permanent part of the eye and will never need any special care or adjustment. This surgery is done with the assistance of a laser that creates a small incision in the side of the cornea. Through this tiny incision the old defective lens is broken up and suctioned out, and the new lens is inserted. The incision is so small that there is no need for any type of suture or bandage. Cataract surgery is performed on only one eye at a time. If you need to have both eyes operated on, the second surgery will be performed after the first eye is completely healed. If you would like to meet with our eye doctor in Kerrville to discuss your particular eye care needs, contact our office today for an appointment.

Diabetic Eye Doctor in Kerrville

Diabetic Eye Care in Kerrville

Diabetic eye doctor in KerrvilleIf you have been diagnosed with diabetes, you should be seeing an eye doctor periodically to have you eyes examined. Eye complications can occur if you have diabetes, and it is best if you can prevent them from happening as they can cause extreme vision loss. Eye problems are much less likely to occur if you are able to keep your sugar down to manageable levels. You will be able to find an expert diabetic eye doctor in Kerrville at Kerrville Eye Center, P.A.

Dr. Russell S. Cravey is our highly-trained and committed ophthalmologist at our Kerrville office. Our goal is to provide the best vision care possible for every member of the family. Dr. Cravey has been providing expert eye care to his patients for over 16 years. Many of his patients come to him for diabetic eye care. If you have diabetes, you are at risk for developing diabetic retinopathy. This can cause severe vision problems – even vision loss – if allowed to go on unchecked. Our diabetic eye doctor in Kerrville monitors his diabetic patients to help ensure that this does not become a reality for them.

When someone has diabetes, their body does not process sugar correctly and sugar levels may rise. This rise in sugar levels may cause damage to the retinal blood vessels. When the blood vessels are damaged, this condition is known as diabetic retinopathy. This condition is the leading cause of blindness in working-age adults. This condition can very easily be diagnosed by our diabetic eye doctor in Kerrville during a regular comprehensive eye exam. Special eye dilation drops are put in to the eye which allows Dr. Cravey to see the back of the eye where the retina is. If diabetic retinopathy is occurring, it will be clearly evident upon examination. If you have diabetes, it is very important that you have regular eye care exams so that you can be monitored for this dangerous eye condition. At Kerrville Eye Center, P.A. we also offer many other kinds of eye care including laser and refractive cataract eye surgery, glaucoma surgery and management and general ophthalmology care. We would enjoy welcoming you into our eye care practice family. If you would like to schedule an exam with Dr. Cravey, contact us today for an appointment at Kerrville Eye Center, P.A.

As we grow older, it is inevitable that we are subject to a number of illnesses and conditions over time. Our eyes and vision are particularly susceptible to such changes. A cataract is the gradual clouding over of the lens of your eye, and as a result the vision becomes increasingly distorted. People with cataracts often describe their vision as akin to looking through a foggy window. Over time, you may find it difficult to read, drive, or even recognize faces due to your cataract. Fortunately, cataracts can easily be treated with our high quality cataract surgery in Kerrville, here at the Kerrville Eye Center, P.A.
